Can kids build and play with the toys on their own?

Yes! We design each toy to be a little bit challenging for kids 8–12+, in the same way a good puzzle is challenging.

Each box has materials to guide you:

A step-by-step illustrated instruction booklet
An instruction video where Mark Rober walks builders through each step

With the help of the instruction video and booklet (and just a dash of tenacity!) tons of kids are able to build and play independently with Build Box.

For what age is Build Box designed?

CrunchLabs Build Boxes are designed for kids ages 8-12+.

We test every product with 3rd-party testing agencies to ensure the products comply with US and EU safety standards for kids ages 8-years and older.

Parents and guardians can gauge the appropriateness for their kids, but we have worked hard to ensure that they’re a blast for the intended age range - and for anyone who loves learning!

Do I need tools or other materials to complete the projects?

Nope! All the stuff you need to make the toy is included in the Build Box, even batteries.

You will need an Internet connection and a kid-safe device to watch the Mark Rober video episode, but you don’t need the video episode to complete the build.

If there are parts missing, go to your My Account portal and visit the page for your toy to order FREE replacement parts. If you have further questions contact help@crunchlabs.com.

Can I buy a single Build Box individually?

Currently, we don’t offer an option to purchase individual Build Boxes (though that may come down the road). We have carefully crafted multiple years of engineering fun and learning into our box sequences, so we think a subscription is the best.

How long does it take to complete a Build Box project?

We design each Build Box toy to take an average 30-60 minutes for an 8-12 year old.

Every kid is different and build times will vary!

Are your products safe?

Of course! We test every product with 3rd-party testing agencies to ensure our products comply with US and EU safety standards for kids ages 8-years and older.

The safety standards check that the toy is safe and sturdy for its intended play, and that unsafe chemicals don’t make their way into the toy during production.

How is the cost of international shipping calculated for Build Box?

Here’s the bottom line: We’re doing our very best to deliver high quality products to you with the lowest shipping rates possible. Duties and taxes, along with other rates, will vary based on your location and subscription type, so please see the total calculated during checkout.

For non-US addresses, your total shipping fee will be shown to you during the checkout process.

Shipping internationally costs us a lot more, so we charge a little extra. We apply the value of domestic shipping ($3.95) within the US to your international shipping cost. Various extra taxes (including VAT) and duties may be collected upon checkout.

Some countries are subject to Delivery Duty Paid fees of about 70% per box. All associated charges are calculated at checkout.

Some countries are subject to Delivery Due Unpaid fees but are exempted from VAT, so these charges will NOT appear during checkout for regular subscriptions. However, bulk orders may be subject to VAT. Check out the VAT minimums noted below.

Best gift I've ever given my grandson
I just renewed my grandson's Crunch Lab subscription for the third year, and his love of each month's arrival increases with every box. Now an 8 year old, he has become so passionate about physics, as he watches Mark's videos over and over, and eagerly anticipates every monthly box. He also uses parts from previous boxes to construct his own "machines." He also loves that when he wears his CrunchLab sweatshirt, so many kids remark to him how much they are Mark Rober fans! (with over 71 million YouTube subscribers, it's easy to bump into a fellow follower!). Thank you for making my Christmas shopping so easy, and for providing a gift that my grandson loves all year long. And for fueling his adoration for science.

Great!!! Just amazing!!
Thanks sooooo much u gave my ADHD child that's 9 and is so smart but he don't do well in school. You actually gave him something that he loves and he said he wants to be an engineer and a scientist because of u! That makes me so happy. I want to cry with joy!!

Great Learning Experience and Tons of Fun
My son is autistic and struggles with reading, but he wants to be an engineer. With the simple picture based instructions he was able to put the disc thrower together nearly all by himself. I have never seen him more proud and excited in his whole life. I look forward to his next box.
