Do I have to already know how to code?

Nope! Hack Pack robots will work right out of the box. Here’s the inside scoop...if you can put together a lego set, you can definitely build these robots and we provide all the materials required.

But get this: Hack Pack can be completely leveled up by hacking the main computer controller, unlocking plenty of challenges and fun for anyone, from those new to coding to master hackers.

For what age is the Hack Pack designed?

CrunchLabs Hack Pack robots are designed for teens 14+ and adults. We test every product with third-party testing agencies to ensure the products comply with US and EU safety standards for teens ages 14-years and older. Parents and guardians can gauge the appropriateness for their kids, but we have worked hard to ensure that they’re a blast for the intended age range.

How long does it take to build Hack Pack?

It depends! We try to make each build 60 to 90 minutes on average for a 14+ year old. But if your teen has homework to do, or there’s a pesky, curious sibling, or they just need to clear their head by running around in circles, they can always come back later to finish.

Can siblings share a Hack Pack subscription?

Our Hack Pack boxes are designed for one user, so we recommend a subscription for each kid. Besides, how are you supposed to defend your candy stash without a password protected Label Maker?

I need help building Hack Pack! Can you help me troubleshoot?

Yes! You've got some symptom-to-solution solves :

If your robot doesn't turn on, check out this handy dandy flow chart.
If an electrical component isn't working, this chart might help.
If your robot won't connect to your computer, follow these steps.

Amazing Idea
To be honest, Hack Pack seems to just coming out of its beta phase (the website says the subscription is currently for early adopters), but things are definitely constantly being worked on to make it better. Since replacement parts if it doesn't work are completely free, it's basically guaranteed to work eventually, in the rare case that it doesn't work for you right away. It's been fun talking with people on the Discord and helping people find what is causing their issues =P
To the other low reviews about loose connections, since they remodeled the breadboard version this should be muuuch less frequent of an issue - if it's an issue for you and you request a replacement, they'll send the new version. To the one review about the domino bot not turning on, this happens when you accidentally connect some of the red and black wires backwards (which lets the power flow straight back into the battery without powering the arduino, this is called short-circuiting).

So much Fun!
Thanks to Mark, I started diving into the world of coding micro controllers. I love this! I completed this project and I am playing with the code now! Thanks for your thoughtfulness to design this! Looking forward to more projects soon!

Amazing 🤩
I’ve always wanted to try hacking and coding, this made it really easy! The videos made the build easier than I thought, and I really recommend this. Small thing though, the darts are hard to put on, but it’s worth it! Can’t wait for the next box! Thank you Mark Rober! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
